latest update: July 2, 2007

The trail is open for its entire length. The surface varies with each city and is described from west to east below. There are 2 deviations from the original rail line: the crossing of Telegraph and the provisional route through downtown Pontiac (both are described on the trail map).

Sylvan Lake – The city has installed a limestone surface on this section of the trail starting from the West Bloomfield Trial to Pontiac Drive on the east.

Pontiac – The remaining part of the railway line through Pontiac is complete. Cross Telegraph using the Orchard Lake bridge. The west section of the trail in Pontiac is complete with a limestone surface from Old Telegraph road (Beaudette Park) to Bagley. This completed section runs through a heavily forested green space and includes one bridge over the Clinton River. A provisional route exists from Bagley east to Opdyke.

Auburn Hills – The trail is complete and surfaced with recycled asphalt which is suitable for biking and walking/jogging. The asphalt in this section is not suitable for roller blades.

Rochester Hills
– Road crossings at Crooks, Hamlin, Livernois and Avon have been completed, with center islands at Livernois and Avon. The two bridges are completed (behind RH City Hall and behind Rochester College). The trail was recently surfaced with a recycled asphalt surface.

Rochester –The trail is complete with a limestone surface. This section includes 2 bridges: Paint Creek and Stony Creek, and a connection to the Paint Creek Trail.
